Expedition dedicated to: Guenter Walser, Austria.

This was our second confluence point on 07th Feb 2004. Having completed 18°N 77°E this morning, we had a quick bite of sandwiches, before speeding towards Gulbarga town.

The roads in Karnataka are not impressive (as compared to Andhrapradesh), so we had to maintain a speed of 40 Kms per hour to reach Gulbarga. We were lucky to be visiting this part of country in the month of Feb, which is still not too warm.

The last leg of our visit to this second point was from Gulbarga to Wadi. We drove quickly thru the small roads of the state and reached the Wadi bypass road (which led to “Yadgiri” town).

At the 33rd milestone to Yadgiri (coming from Chitapur side), the GPS Pointer pointed a right angle towards west . We needed 1.6 Kms more to reach our point. Chandra tried to take a muddy road to reach as close as possible to the confluence point. However, we decided to stop after a 100 meters drive because of a bad patch and chose to walk through the fields.

With all the essentials, we walked for about 2 Kms, where we were near a railway line running from Wadi junction to Yadgir station, we found 17N 77E about 20 meters from the railway line. This was exciting for us as the first point of the day (18N 77E) was on the road and second one near the railway line!

The drive back to home (Hyderabad) was also interesting, as we did not know correct directions and just followed the GPS all the way to reach home !!! Surprisingly, Chandra, who has spent more than 25 years in the city, failed to understand the point of entry into the city and continuously was guessing while driving till we actually entered into Hyderabad.

At the end of the day, we both were very content as could visit two points as planned. We bid good bye to each other thinking about our next visit in the first week of March. Chandra dropped me at my place at 9:30pm and drove down to his house.
