11-Jan-2014 -- This Confluence was conquered in the first onslaught in January 11, 2014.

After conquering the confluence 9°W 41°S, we passed the night in the town of Casa Nova. The next day – Saturday, packed up our bags, have a coffee strengthened and we left the Inn with the objective of conquering two confluences in the same day-audacious goal for a place with few roads and very low population density.

We had two options for path, that would lead up to the confluence 9°S 42°W: at first we'd by Dirceu Arcoverde and São Raimundo Nonato in the State of Piauí in the Northeast region. And the second way we would figure out a way to get to the Confluence for dirty roads up to Don Inocencio. Our spirit of adventure made us choose the second option and follow the BR235 towards the West and 88 km after leaving Casa Nova, we left the tarmac and enter a dirt road right toward the Lagoa Comprida Farm and the seat of the municipality of Don Inocencio which lies in the State of Piauí in the Northeast region.

The floor of the roads in the region have many loose rocks and long stretches of soft sand, the temperature was close to 40 degrees °C and don't carry enough water to get through this journey. There were more than 150 km (roundtrip) to go to bike in these conditions. We feel in the Sertões Rally.

We moderate pace because the bikes were heavy and had not been prepared to face such bad roads. We went to a place near the Morro dos Oitis and had to return.

This confluence will stay for another chance! We will return soon...
