#1: LOOKING NORTH TOWARDS THE COAST, FROM WALKERVILLE TO SANDY POINT

(visited by Tim Barbour)

06-Jan-2010 -- We have been trying to reach this confluence since 2005. It is in a sometimes dangerous area of Bass Strait accessible from Shallow Inlet or Walkerville North. In either case the conditions must be just right.

We set out from Shallow Inlet, crossing the entrance at 10am, arriving at the confluence at about 11am. I was accompanied by my Son Ashley and friend Rob O'Brien. We used a six metre offshore rescue boat equipped with GPS and all radio gear which operates out of Waratah Beach Surf Life Saving Club at Sandy Point Victoria. A special hello to Donald Fraser with whom we had intended to do the run but conditions were never quite right.
