#1: Looking south east with a dam in the background

(visited by Phil Wellstead and Sigrid Wellstead)

10-Nov-2003 -- Headed off from Katanning just after lunch, heading east to Jerramungup, south down the South Coast Highway and turned east along Carlawillup Road. After crossing the upper reaches of the Bremer River we called into a farmhouse on the south side of the road. The lady of the house told us that their property extended onto the north side as well and that the men were working out to the north so headed off to find them. Having found the guys and getting permission to search for the confluence we headed off armed with a mud map given to us by the property owners, who were most helpful.

Looking out to the east, we could see Fitzgerald National Park and the top end of Gairdner River.

Regarding the abandoned farmhouse that Donna commented on (visit 1), I am happy to report that it is swarming with builders and is looking great.

The photo of the pioneer grave bought back memories for us, as my parents owned this property 30 years ago. Isabella Calder lived on a property about 10km to the northeast of Needilup.

All photos have been taken from the confluence.
