#1: View of the confluence area, showing tracks of previous visitor(s)

(visited by Simon Chapple and Rod Chapple)

08-Jun-2004 -- My father and I were driving from South Australia towards Broken Hill along the Barrier Highway when we decided to try our luck at this confluence. At the time we made the decision to visit the confluence, we didn't know that it had been visited before.

The confluence is slightly north of the hamlet of Cockburn, on the South Australia - New South Wales border.

The confluence was easy enough to find as it was just off a dusty track that runs along the border.

When we got to within 100m or so of the confluence we soon realised that someone had been here before - there were 4WD tracks that moved off the main track, headed towards the confluence and stopped within metres of the confuence. It was just too much of a coincidence.

When we got home, we discovered that Stephen Jeffers first visited here about 9 months earlier, in Sept 2003. I assume that it was his tracks that we saw, although they still looked quite fresh, and his description seems to imply that he stopped on the main track. Perhaps this confluence has also been visited by other hunters who are yet to post their stories?
