(visited by Ross Finlayson)

03-Dec-2014 -- After visiting Wave Rock (near the town of Hyden), I spent the day driving back to the Perth area, and hoped to visit some Degree Confluence Points on the 32 Degrees South line of latitude en route. I first tried getting to 32S 119E, but discovered that this would require more hiking over private farmland than I'd originally anticipated. From reading previous visitors’ reports about the next point to the west - 32S 118E - it was clear that the same applied to that point. However, the next point to the west - 32S 117E - looked easy: just 120 metres from a road (Northbourne Road). From reviewing satellite imagery, I could see that it involved crossing a creek, and I was curious as to whether or not it would be filled with water.

After hours of driving through the vast Western Australian wheat belt, I finally reached Northbourne Road, and discovered that the creek was bone dry. So it was an easy hike through long grass to the point, which lies in dry grass, next to a pair of dead tree stumps.
