#1: general view of the confluence

(visited by Werner Bonnet and RICARDO VASQUES)

03-Jan-2011 --

In our first expedition in 2011, we decided to aim the unvisited confluences in Rio Grande do Sul state. Our target was 30S 056W and we drove towards Alegrete city. We drove 520km to the city and more 25km on a bumpy road and reached the fence at the nearest point we could get by car.

It was a typical “gaucho’s” cattle farm where we found a small house and nobody inside. We crossed the fields and after 2km we reached the degree confluence.

All the area looks like a grassland deeply changed by man and we observed armadillos (Priodontes maximus), emus (Rhea Americana) and hares (Lepus capensis).
