Paramos o carro a 400 metros do ponto exato.

14-Feb-2015 -- My wife, my son and I spent the Carnival holidays at Belém city, capital of Pará state. My wife and my son haven’t ever visited the city. I enjoy the trip to visit two new confluences, one going and other coming back.

At Saturday, 14 February, we left Marabá city at 6:30 and headed by PA-150 highway. We stopped at Goianésia do Pará city to take a snack and turned left in a dirt road a bit before Tailândia city, after travelling by about 290 kilometers.

The dirt road leg, seven kilometers long, was in reasonable condition. There were puddles and mud in some regions, due to the rain, but it didn’t cause problems. We stopped the car 400 meters to the exact point.

The hike up to the exact point was easy. Intending to avoid approaching to the farms of the region, I followed by the bush up to a track. Then, I followed the track up to 60 meters to the exact point. Then, I left the track and caught other leg in the bush up to get all GPS zeroes.

I made all the way back and we headed to Belém. The second half of the trip includes two river crossings by ferry. I used both ferries less than three months before, when I visited 2S 49W confluence.

The first river crossing, at Moju city, over Moju River, 470 meters long, is necessary due to the broken bridge. As it is practically the only possible way between several cities of Pará state, the ferry is very busy. Due to this, we need to wait in a huge queue to cross. We waited by three hours. We enjoyed the time to take a snack, replacing the dinner. When we finally arrived at the other side of the river, it was almost 15:00.

Some more kilometers, and we arrived at the second ferry of the day, much longer, which joins Arapari village and Belém city. It’s 11 kilometers long and the crossing spend more than one hour. In this second crossing we didn't face a queue, because there is an alternative way to go to Belém. However, we wait 50 minutes up to ferry depart time. We faced a thunderstorm when crossing and we arrived at Belém at dawn.

We spend the night of Saturday, the whole Sunday and Monday at Belém and come back at Tuesday, when we visited the second confluence of the trip.

This narrative continues on 2S 48W.
