(visited by Brian Roberts and Renate Roberts)

05-May-2012 -- This Confluence was visited by Brian and Renate Roberts on Saturday, 5 May 2012. We had travelled to Aus for a cycling event (Aus to Lüderitz) and were returning home from Lüderitz to Walvis Bay. We had noticed that, by making some changes to our route, we could visit two Confluences along the way.

From Lüderitz we followed the B4 to Aus and continued another 33 km beyond Aus where we turned right onto the D446 to Rosh Pinah/Goageb. We passed several farms and also several big herds of goats in the road along the way. The road crossed a tree-lined river bed several times and there were rocky mountains on both sides of the road. After about 48 km we took the left turn to Goageb. After another 20 km we came to the area of the Confluence.

We needed to climb a fence in order to reach the Confluence which is situated in a flat field about 500 meters from the road. There are a large number of Euphorbia gregaria plants in the area surrounding the Confluence. These many-stemmed, spineless, succulent shrubs are endemic to southern Namibia. The fruit is a rounded capsule on a recurved stalk.
