#1: Within 100m of the 22s 135e confluence

(visited by Chalmers And Thomas, Darren Thomas, Kerrie Thomas and Jock Chalmers)

27-Jun-2022 -- Janelle had while looking at a Facebook post learnt about Confluence points. We discovered that one was really close to us and not been claimed.

So Jock, Darren, Kerrie and Janelle set about finding the point. It took us two hours from the moment we left the main road to reach the point. Driving through spinifex, trees varying from dense to scattered. Sometimes we had to turn direction just to avoid the scrub. It was slow going and rough. As we got closer the driver kept wanting to go right the navigators insisted we go left, at 4pm on 27/6/22 we located the confluence point. We all had a sense of achievement in discovering a point that no white person had probably ever been to before. As it also happened to be Jocks birthday, he marked the spot.

And as Jock had quoted many times that day “it don’t get better than this”. Little did he know how right he was, the trip home we got two flat tyres within 2kms. Luckily we were only 5km from the main road, so we’re able to limp to the road, where an extra spare tyre was brought out us.
