#1: At the confluence 22S 114E facing north

(visited by Tim Oakeley and Andrew Bryson)

09-Jun-2003 -- This was quite the mission getting to the spot 22°S 114°E. We had to travel about 6km from the road and had to traverse many gorges to get there. See the pictures for some of the gorges we had to cross to get to this point.

Fortunately we left in the morning at about 9:00 - the mission took us a lot longer than we anticipated with us returning about 5:00 in the afternoon back to the car.

The first 500m in, following a compass bearing of about 110 degrees we met the first gorge we had to cross. We continued to meet them with a frustrating level of frequency as we made our way towards the confluence point.

The final spot we had to get to was in yet another gorge, thankfully the last one which we had to descend into so as to get to our destination. - there is a photo showing looking at the far bank where the confluence lay.

Getting out was a little easier as we had some knowledge of the area. It took about 3 1/2 hours to get back out.
