11-Oct-2015 --This confluence is one of the three that we visited on a trip between Resende (Rio de Janeiro) and Ribeirão Preto (Sao Paulo), on the occasion of the holiday of 12 October, day of Nossa Senhora Aparecida (Patron Saint of the Brazil).

On the second day of our travel we left the hotel Ribeirão Preto aiming to meet several villages in the area. Ribeirão Preto is the most important city in the West of São Paulo (more than 600,000 inhabitants) and in the past coffee was its main economic engine. Today it is fundamentally a industrial township and urbanized, although surrounded by several agricultural communes, especially dedicated to the cultivation of sugar cane. In the area there are many industries that use sugarcane for fuels production.

If there is anything that has the State of São Paulo, it is the quality of its routes, with plenty of highways that join a relief more plain (compared to Minas Gerais or Rio de Janeiro residents) and make arriving at any point pretty fast. That if everything has its cost... considering a toll must be paid every 30 km on average.

So with little delay we reached the municipality of Pontal, a small city about 40 km away, then by a paved road we entered the grounds of the Usina Bazan, and finally leaving the paved road, we followed the internal roads between plantations with different grade of maturity.

The way that we approached the confluence was going to the right of a recently harvested field. A thick layer of fine dust a little complicated the terrain. We left the car 800 meters of the confluence, in the that we could approach the point and walked through that layer of very fine dust (each step the shoes entirely sunk in the dust), finally under the intense midday heat reached the limit of the field, where a very closed sugarcane plantation began, inside of which was the confluence.

We moved about 10 meters, which was all that the canes allowed, and as we were already within the circle of the 100 meters, recorded the confluence at that point.

The rest of the day we passed between many sugarcane plantations, plants, some isolated plantations of coffee, and very beautiful villages, like Batatais and Brodowski, who keep a very important collection of works by Cándido Portinari, an important plastic artist born in these lands.
