#1: View of confluence area

(visited by Michael Olsen, John Whithorn and Suzette Cooke)

20-Jun-2009 -- Ultimate Camper was left at Pegasus site and back the three kilometres to the old cut line. We headed north through treacherous terrain over dunes and through turpentine thickets that tried to rip the very duco from the car.

I had 3 stakings on the way in and John, one. Located the confluence in Swale which was ironically the easiest of the terrain to navigate. For first time confluence hunters there was great excitement as we watched the gps co-ordinates decend to all zero’s. The confluence sits midway in a wide swale between two large dunes. It is surrounded by low spinifex only and provided good vision in all directions. The dune heights are approximately 15 metres. The country is extremely isolated and rough. It took 4 days to reach this site from the nearest main road. There has been much mineral exploration in the region in the late 70's and early 1980''s. We headed out just before 4pm. Staked another two tyres on the way out such are the hardships of outback travel
