21-Aug-2007 -- During a two day trip to Goias and Mato Grosso state, I decided to visit this confluence, the last one in the state of Goiás.

I left the city of Mineiros, Goias heading west on BR364 and drove 216.9 miles, where I left the asphalt and turned right onto a dirt road that I saw on the satellite photos that follows NW to Ponte Branca city. Unfortunately the photos were not clear and I had much difficulty to find a road or trail to the CP. The better attempts took me to 1.9 mi to the CP, impossible to walk in the little sun time that remained.

After my last failed attempt, I thought I should ask about some road to the CP direction before proceeding. Asking for information in a farm in the proximity, the rancher said there was no way I would get there from that point. He recommended me to go back and turn east into a road 6.2 mi from there.

This would be the last attempt; only one more hour before getting gloomy. Following the orientation of the rancher, I took the road that goes across the Agrovila Avapé and follows to Ponte Branca city. After some changes of direction, the road started to head straight to the confluence direction.

After getting as close as I thought I could get to the confluence, I parked the jeep along a cattle pasture fence, located in the Recanto da Cordilheira ranch, 500 m from the confluence.

It was 6:15 pm and only a few minutes before the sunset left to walk to the CP and take the photos.

This confluence is in a region with some hills, used almost exclusively for cattle pasture. The pastures, at this time of the year, are droughts yellowish; however the cattle show a healthful aspect thanks to the new managing technologies and alimentary complementation.

It was night when I returned to the city of Santa Rita do Araguaia, with intention to visit the confluence 17S 54W on the next day.

The visit to this confluence made me very happy and I felt rewarding because it was very difficult to reach and for being the last one of the state of Goiás.
