02-Jan-2004 --

We left Janauba and took the road to Porteirinha then the gravel road to Riacho dos Machados.

Before reach Riacho dos Machados we went till the base of Serra da Gangora looking for new hiking trails there. It was a beautiful sierra and we could reached his top by car if we went to Sao Jose.

Near 7 km of Riacho dos Machados we guessed this confluence was near a small hill, with some shrubs.

We tried to found the best road to reached this confluence, and this we crossed the intersection to Montes Claros and took this road.

After 3 km in this road we exit this road to left and took the road to Brejo Bravo(wild marsh) and others Farms.

We followed the gps signs and the road finished near a fence. We could followed the fence taking a spoiled road almost full of shrubs by car, but this shrubs have a lot of thorns and scraping the car.

So we followed this spoiled road by foot and reached another fence. Before this fence we found a spoiled foothpath (another spoiled road full of shrubs) and follow it. We reached a wood oven (a oven to make coal from wood). In this wood burner there was another road, right to the confluence. We follow it and reached a main road.

This road went to a open gate with another wood ovens (coal burners or wood burners). We kept on following this road and found another gate.

We were around 300 meters from confluence, and the gps was pointed to a openned field were some cattle was grazing.

We started walking up the hill and unfortunately the exactly point of confluence was near the shrubs.

We took some time to reach the zeros because the confluence was near some rocks and shrubs.
