06-Jan-2007 -- On our year end trip we visited Caranavi and Rurrenabaque, where we decided to enter the jungle until Ixiamas which is the furthest one with a road in the La Paz state.

When we reached our destination we checked the maps and realized that 14S68W was at just 2.8 km from the road we just drove by, and knew this point was in the middle of the jungle and hard to reach… but we had to try it.

On the next day on our way back from Ixiamas to Rurrenabaque we stopped at the closest point to the confluence. To our fortune, there was a river that would help us get there.

After walking for 30 minutes along the riverbed we got to within 570 m before entering the jungle. Since we lacked the necessary equipment we could not get any closer.
