17-Sep-2012 -- We conquered the confluence 11S 42W on Monday, 17 September 2012 at 11:23 am.

This was the third and last confluence of expedition to parallel 11S. We started the trip on September 15, Saturday, believing that we could win the three confluences (11S 41W, 11S 42W, and 11S 43W) in two days. However, the difficulty of reaching the confluence 11S 43W extented our expedition for one day.

Monday morning, we packed up our bikes, took a reinforced breakfast, and checked out at the inn. We took the State Highway BA052, also known as bean road, toward the city of Jussara-BA. After traversing 77 km, we entered a road to the left and traveled over 17 km to a gas station in a town. We catered the bikes and got information about the access to the confluence 11S 42W.

According to the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), the region of the confluence was originally inhabited by the Massacarás Indians. Its settlement began in the late 19th century by adventurers who settled and developed agriculture. Soil fertility has attracted new settlers who also settled there, forming the town of Chapada. In 1953, a subordinate district was created at Xique-Xique, and in 1958, the Central municipality, to which was annexed the District of Chapada. The name was changed to Jussara in 1962, in honor of former President Juscelino Kubitschek, and his wife Lady Sarah Kubitschek. Jussara natives are called jussarenses.

Motorcycles supplied, we ranked toward the confluence, we went through unpaved roads to the site of a farm that lies very close to the point of conquest. We parked the bikes under a shadow, drank water, climbed back on the bikes and set out to record the conquest. After a few pictures, we returned to the road and went back home.
