  44°N 2°E (visit #2)

#1: 44°N 2°E is in the centre of the image in the corner of the green field

(visited by Henk Pouwels and Inge Pouwels)

26-Feb-2005 -- Driving from Toulouse to Rodez the confluence 44°N 2°E is about halfway, a little bit to the North. The confluence is easy to approach by car, 120m off a local road SW of Noailles. At the time of the visit it was a clear but cold day. Next day in Rodez we faced snow, ice and stormy weather.

The DCP, is in the right-hand corner at the back of the greenish field in the centre of the photograph. The North, East, South and West images show an agricultural country. Due to the undisturbed view to the sky and the almost bare soil the spot with “no minutes no seconds = no decimals” is found with only a small zero-dance.

A peculiar piece of scrap is rusting close to the DCP; looking at the right-hand side it ain’t like an iron horse.

Due to the season my collection of plants is rather minute: a number of lichens on the roof of a shed and veronica, a wild orchid and a daisy is all.

About 22 km SW of the DCP we visited the beautiful village Lisle sur Tarn at co-ordinate 43.853°N 1.810°E. See also here.

And at 8km NW, 44.063°N 1.952°E we passed Cordes sur Ciel which means Cordes in Heaven. An applicable addition to the name.
