07-Apr-2009 -- End of March we flew to Gambia to take home our Landcruiser, which we had parked once again at Camping Sukuta The Gambia at the end of our Guinea roundtrip. We drove quickly through Senegal, Mauritania, and the Western Sahara, for Morocco we took more time. One point was to discover the degree confluence 34N 3W.

We drove from Mahirija to Rchida and from there on a mostly bad track through a beautiful mountainous landscape towards Debdou. Some kilometres before the village we hit on a tarmac road, which leads later in serpentines into the valley, in which Debdou lies. At half height the degree confluence was about 2.5 km distant, but there was no way and it was not clear, whether the point is closer to the valley or the mountain.

So we continued downhill to Debdou and drove then towards Taourirt. On this road we could approach again to about 2.5 km, but this time we found a small track which led in the right direction. This track ends at a small village less than 700 m distant from the degree confluence.

We parked the car and walked first along gardens and the water supply and then through stony and bushy terrain steep uphill to the degree confluence 34N 3W, which is fortunately below the cliff.
