22-Jul-2006 -- This particular confluence point (CP) is located at the water of the Davis strait that separates Greenland and Canada, nearly 14 km from Greenland’s coast, west west north (WWN) of Sisimiut/Holsteinborg. For more details see the 1:250 000 map “saga map No. 8, Sisimiut/Kangerlussuaq”.

It was Saturday, July 22nd, 8.00 p. m. when we were let on board of the passenger ship “Sarfaq Ittuk” (#5) at Sisimiut/Holsteinborg harbour (where the first 180 km part of our hiking tour ended - for details c. f. CP N67/W53). The ship was heading north for Aasiaat/Egedesminde. Obviously the route could be assumed to bring us close to the point of desire. Thus it was a question of the weather and light, whether or not we would see land. Over the daytime, the visibility was less than 1 km, but the deep hanging clouds lifted a little bit during the evening hours.

At 10.30 p. m. we achieved our best position, 450 m from the CP, according to the GPS (#4). This deviation has had absolutely no effect on the views #1 to #3, while view west did show only water, anywhere. View east (#1) is probably the most interesting one. The mountains with the white tops in the middle of the picture can be assigned to the 1448 m “Aqqutikitsoq”, just the same mountains as already shown as view #7 in connection with CP N67/W53. The photo made for the view north (#2), despite smaller pieces of ice, displays spots of islands, too small to be identified. Even the view south (#3) shows land, but this could be due to the wide angle of the camera lens.
