#1: General View of Confluence Area

(visited by Stephen Langman and Fiona Langman)

20-Jul-2007 -- After leaving the female station hand near Yerda Outstation, the station track to Kingoonya was in very good condition and we were able to make good time. Arriving at Glendambo, we headed towards Port Augusta on the main highway for 17 kilometres, when it was time to head into Coondambo Station. Arriving at the homestead, I did as Rick requested, and that was to call in. We did this, but no one was home, so we continued on further east towards the confluence.

At 800 Metres from the confluence, we left our vehicle on the side of the track and walked that short distance to the confluence. The area is mulga and bluebush and small gibbers. Again, it was an easy walk to the confluence and it did not take long to get the required photos. Once back at our vehicle, we continued further east on station tracks towards Wirraminna and then back on the main highway back to Port Augusta.

As others have stated, you must obtain permission from Coondambo Station and the Defence Support Centre in Woomera, the latter being the most important. This was the seventh successful confluence visit that we had visited during our two weeks away. The down side was that I had to make many changes to the trip during our travels, as time just ran away. We were unable to log a further 6 confluences that I had permission to visit. They will have to be logged on another visit to the outback of South Australia.
