#1: the confluence looking to the east distance 50 m

(visited by Philipp Funovits)

08-Aug-2004 -- This confluence point was the second one we visited this summer. The train route from Odessa to the northern City's goes right through one several of the little villages near the confluence, but apparently none of trains using stops in one of them. We debated going by bus, which would have meant we had to do hike the last 6 kilometers or so, but settled eventually for hiring a taxi. We negotiated a very reasonable price with the pilot of a vintage lada taxi, and of we went. We bought a detailed map of the Odessa district beforehand. In the beginning we were rather pleased with our purchase, as the map even indicated the road size and maintenance status, but we learned later, that the map was totally outdated. It showed good roads where in reality only were rather shabby dirt tracks, moreover some major roads weren`t even drawn in. The map suggested, that the best Route to Migai, the tiny tiny village just 300 meter from the confluence would be via the E95 to Radisne. As soon as we left the major streets at Radisne we were confronted with horrible streets. The condition of the pavement was so terrible, that we feared our driver would ruin his car on the trip. We had to ask our way to Migai, and took the wrong turn-offs. Migai lies between two soft hills with a small lake at the south. The Houses are lined left and right along the only street leading to it. We stopped at Migai, took the obligatory pictures, and left. The way back was a lot easier. From Migai we drove to the road running along the moldovian border to Kuchurchan, and took the M16 back to Odessa from there.
