(visited by Gavin Roy and Walter Hannah)

26-Apr-2024 -- Road trip! En route from Fort Collins to run the Oklahoma City Half Marathon on April 28, my friend and I decided to leave a day early to hit some confluences along the western and southern border of Kansas. We first visited Mount Sunflower a few miles to the NW of this confluence, the highest point in the state, where the logbook showed a plethora of high pointers who’d recently bagged this picturesque "peak". I appreciate that confluence hunting is less peopled.

We got back in Walter's truck and parked along the road to the WSW of the confluence at 1:37pm. We walked eastward into the field along a farm road, then through scrub, cowpies, cow bones, and grasshoppers. It was 66°F and very windy. For the last portion of the walk a distant ranch was visible to the NW. We zeroed out, took pictures, and walked back, arriving at the truck 40 minutes after starting. Onward to the next confluence due south.
